বিজ্ঞানী মহলে অনেক দিন ধরেই তিনটি শব্দ নিয়ে সাধারণ মানুষের মধ্যে বিভ্রান্তি দেখা যায়—ডার্ক ম্যাটার, ডার্ক এনার্জি, আর গড পার্টিকেল। এদের নামেই যেন রহস্য, আর তাই অনেকেই ভাবেন এগুলো একে–অপরের সাথে সরাসরি সম্পর্কযুক্ত। বাস্তবে, বিজ্ঞান বলছে—এরা তিনটি ভিন্ন জগতের তিনটি সম্পূর্ণ আলাদা ধারণা। আজকের প্রতিবেদনে মহাবিশ্বের এই তিনটি রহস্যকে বিশদভাবে ব্যাখ্যা করা হলো।

ডার্ক ম্যাটার কী?

Dark Matter, Dark Energy & God Particle: Where did the confusion begin?

Confusion among common people over three words in the scientific palace—Dark Matter, Dark Energy, and God Particle. Mystery in their names, and so many think they are directly related to each other. In reality, science says—these are three completely different concepts from three different worlds. Today’s report explains these three mysteries of the universe in detail.

The name “God Particle” is not actually a scientific term—a creation of popular culture. The real name of this is Higgs Boson, first identified in CERN’s Large Hadron Collider in 2012. This particle is part of the Higgs Field, and the Higgs Field is the other particles of the universe. This Higgs Field is working behind the roots of people, planets, stars everything that bears ‘weight’ or mass. The Higgs Boson is a sign that proves the field is active. Born for a moment within the world’s most powerful device, the Higgs Boson informed us that the weaving of the universe is filled with not only light and particles, but a deep, foggy field.

What is dark matter?

It is a substance that is invisible to the eye, does not reflect light or absorb—yet its presence is evident in the universe. Scientists can understand the abnormalities in the rotation of remote galaxies; therefore, these are unexplained. An invisible gravity belt around the galaxy—that’s protecting them from spread. That’s the dark matter. Scientists think 27% of the universe consists of this unseen substance, but its particles have not yet been identified. The most possible candidates are WIMPs, axions and sterile neutrinos—whose existence hasn’t yet been tested. And more importantly, science has never called a God Particle a particle of dark matter; this is a completely different mystery.

Dark Energy is another main reason for confusion with Dark Matter. Even though there is “dark” in the name, two ideas are not the same. Dark Matter holds the Galaxy, but Dark Energy pushes the Galaxy away. In 1998, the universe is not only expanding, but also expanding faster. Behind it lies an invisible, mysterious force called Dark Energy. Scientists think 68% of the universe is this power. It is not a particle, but the density of energy within space that expands the space itself. No “God Particle” here either.

A misconception is often seen in popular science writing or social media: Is dark matter or dark energy created by any particle like the God Particle? Because three things are mysterious, invisible, and difficult to understand. But the scientific truth is—
